Chi Omega Convention

Image
This past weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Orlando for Chi Omega’s 61 st Bi-Annual National Convention. For those of you who do not know, I am an advisor for Chi Omega here at ECU, my alma mater. Often times, Chi Omega likes for advisors to be five years removed from undergraduate before they start advising however, since most of our alums move away from Greenville after graduation, we unfortunately do not have a very large alumni base, which means we are always in desperate need for advisors. Thus, I started advising four years ago, only two years after graduation. However, this was my first convention and it was a blast!  It was so cool to see so many amazing and strong women. We got to spend time with women from across the country, attended workshops and training's, attend the Model Initiation where a young collegian was initiated in front of 1200 Chi Omega women. She is a 3 rd generation and the 4 th women in her family to be a Chi Omega. It was incredible and

NEW Den Furniture!

Robert and I have been together as a couple 9 years. Hard to believe. Married 3. In those nine years we have lived in a duplex, bought our first home in 2011 and then recently purchased a larger home in 2015 in our dream neighborhood. Through all of those years we have pieced furniture together, hand-me-downs from friends and family, thrift stores, yard sales ect. There have been a few staple pieces we've splurged on (especially our mattress, i'm embarrassed by how much money we spent on that thing), but mainly we haven't bought anything new. When we moved into our new house we went from a 1200 sqft home to an almost 3000 sqft home. To say we needed more furniture was an understatement. Rooms were bare but I told Robert to be patient and that over time we would add additional things and that it would all come together. At times furniture didn't match, there was no theme or style of the rooms and they looked down right horrible, but I refuse to go in debt over fur

Celebration of Service and Leadership Legacy of Steve and Nancy Ballard....

Image
This past Thursday I was invited by a friend to attend The celebration of Service and Leadership Legacy of Steve and Nancy Ballard. Chancellor Ballard has done incredible things for my alma mater and he will be greatly missed. The good thing is, he is going on a year long sabbatical and then will be coming back to East Carolina University to serve in a teaching role where students will have the opportunity to learn under his leadership.  My relationship has grown over the years with Chancellor Ballard, because of my role as a fundraiser for the College of Business but also on a personal note due to being a college student diagnosed with lung cancer and and unfortunately because of his sons diagnosis.  When I walked in the door, I wanted to speak with him before it got too crowded. As soon as I walked over, I heard him end a conversation and say, "I want to make sure I get my hug and get to talk to Taylor!" --- it makes me feel special that the Chancellor of such a large

Celebrating Mom's Birthday at the Beach!

Whew!  It's been a few days since I have posted and that's because life has been pretty busy!  Thursday night I volunteered to help at JWA's Big Night Out! Robert couldn't attend because of stuff for work, so I thought it would be fun to volunteer instead and still meet my membership requirement. Always a plus! JWA is the Junior Women's Association of Greenville. We are working to affiliate with the Junior League national organization and hopefully that will happen in the next few years! I was a new member this year and I have enjoyed getting involved and meeting some amazing women! Here are a few pictures of the event! Heather and me-- Cant wait to meet her bundle of joy! Some of the Silent Auction Items The tables were decorated so cute Friday afternoon I was able to get out of the office a little early and I headed home, threw some things in a bag and we headed to the beach for the weekend! Hubs had already loaded the coolers and gotten the

Memorial Day Monday

Image
I work in healthcare and often times on days when the rest of the world has the day off, we are expected to be at work or to take PTO. Normally I just decide to go into work because its actually pretty peaceful and I am able to get a lot done compared to normal days when I am constantly interrupted. However, I decided to take PTO this past Monday and I am so thankful that I did. I didn't realize how bad I needed just one extra day to relax and catch up around the house. Robert and I decided to sleep in late. We don't get to do this often and actually we both were up pretty early because we are so used to being up early. I've been dying to try the new smoothie place called "Juice Vibes"--- believe it or not, this is a big deal for a place like Greenville. There is only one other smoothie place in town and their smoothies are filled with tons of sugar and not a ton of fresh fruit. Juice Vibes has nutrient dense fruit and veggie smoothies and they are awesome!!! I

Memorial Day Weekend Relaxation

Image
My husband and I were planning to go the the beach this weekend to celebrate memorial day weekend with my family as well as my moms birthday, however we decided to stay put here in Greenville because the weatherman was calling for horrible weather. Unfortunately, the weather folks were completely wrong and it ended up being a beautiful weekend at the beach but that's okay because we are headed to the beach this weekend to do a little belated birthday celebrating for my momma! I think almost all of my family will be there, which always means a wild and crazy time!  Since we decided to stay in Greenville for the weekend, it meant lots of quality time together. We also spent some time running errands, shopping, boating, cleaning, napping and enjoying downtime which rarely happens at our house. After being in Chicago for 4 days, it was nice to relax and have no agenda.  Saturday we decided to go on the boat in the Tar River and then head down to Little Washington. Robert fished al
