I just got a text from my godbrother who recently lost his grandmother to breast cancer, and I wanted to share it with yall. Josh said "Not sure if you meant it but in your stuff about lung cancer being forgotten in the last few days, you come off as very... I dont know the best way to put it but the most polite is probably desensitized to breast cancer. I get what you are trying to get across but other might not. It seems very close to, "Forget breast cancer. Thats not even the worst one." Just thought I would let you know so you dont allienate a potential proponent for awareness because they get turned off." Celebration of Service and Leadership Legacy of Steve and Nancy Ballard....

This past Thursday I was invited by a friend to attend The celebration of Service and Leadership Legacy of Steve and Nancy Ballard. Chancellor Ballard has done incredible things for my alma mater and he will be greatly missed. The good thing is, he is going on a year long sabbatical and then will be coming back to East Carolina University to serve in a teaching role where students will have the opportunity to learn under his leadership.  My relationship has grown over the years with Chancellor Ballard, because of my role as a fundraiser for the College of Business but also on a personal note due to being a college student diagnosed with lung cancer and and unfortunately because of his sons diagnosis.  When I walked in the door, I wanted to speak with him before it got too crowded. Chi Omega Convention

This past weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Orlando for Chi Omega’s 61 st Bi-Annual National Convention. For those of you who do not know, I am an advisor for Chi Omega here at ECU, my alma mater. Often times, Chi Omega likes for advisors to be five years removed from undergraduate before they start advising however, since most of our alums move away from Greenville after graduation, we unfortunately do not have a very large alumni base, which means we are always in desperate need for advisors. Thus, I started advising four years ago, only two years after graduation. However, this was my first convention and it was a blast!  It was so cool to see so many amazing and strong women. We got to spend time with women from across the country, attended workshops and training's, attend the Model Initiation where a young collegian was initiated in front of 1200 Chi Omega women.
